Flora of the Oaxaca region of Mexico

 

Bart will take us on a journey through the regions of Oaxaca, Mexico to explore the flora observed on his recent visit.

 

We welcome back an old friend and former board member of WHS.
Bart O’Brien left Northern California for a position at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden (RSABG) in Claremont, California where his last position was Director of Special Projects. Bart participated in planning, restoration, and landscape projects for the Los Angeles and San Gabriel rivers and watersheds in Southern California.

   
 

Bart holds an undergraduate degree in environmental planning and management from UC Davis, and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Harvard University.

   
  He returned to the Bay area in 2013 to his postion at Tilden Regional Park.
Among his accomplishments in education, Bart O’Brien has authored numerous articles, presented lectures and symposia, and developed and managed a new native plant horticulture education and outreach program for RSABG.
   
  He has held many leadership roles in the California Native Plant Society (CNPS); currently he is state archivist for CNPS and a member of the editorial board of CNPS’s journal, Fremontia.
