FOUNDERS AWARD 2012:  MARY KAYE

Mary was born in the Midwest and moved to California where she married and started a family. Mary took a class with one of our Founders, Ed Carman, and was so inspired she went on to complete her studies in Landscape Design.

Mary served on the WHS board from 1982 to 1988 and was President from 1987 to 1988. She served on many committees and co-ordinated many events and field trips. She was a contributor to the WHS books on perennials and vines. In 1991 Mary became the Western Horticultural Society representative to Pacific Horticulture Magazine. In 1993 she again was a member of the Western Hort Board and finally retired in 1996 to give more time to her responsibilities with Pacific Horticulture Magazine. She has always been happy to serve WHS and to be active in our events and projects. We all are grateful for her many years of service and the leadership she provided to our society.

Judy Wong presented the award and read out Mary's long list of accomplishments !
